Well, I feel like 2016 has been a challenging one for sure. From politics to deaths (I feel like I lost half my childhood including my first celebrity crush…. that just hurts!) it seems there is a lot of despair out there. But on the other end of despair, there is also hope. Even though the universe doesn’t give a hoot what our man-made calendars say, there is something about the turning of that calendar page from one year to the next that brings new beginnings. A chance to evaluate the past year and make plans for the next.
For us, 2016 wasn’t bad, per se, it just felt like a year we were in limbo. We really didn’t do too much this year as we have been in full-on planning and saving mode. We did manage some fun, however.
Jake and I celebrated 5 years together and one year married, and we love to celebrate, so that’s always a good thing. We enjoyed a trip to Victoria BC for our anniversary, spent some quality time with our friends and family, and really got our butts on track to reach our goal departure date. (APRIL here we come!)
While, for the most part, 2016 can suck a big one… there are a few things that still give me hope in humanity.
• Biden memes – ALL THE BIDEN MEMES!
• I was introduced to this guy, who regularly makes me laugh.
• AND a whole new mini-season of the Gilmore Girls was released! Ok, not as noteworthy as removing an animal from the endangered list, or resolving a 50-year conflict… In hindsight I probably should have led with this one… but, GILMORE GIRLS!
What were some of your highlights of 2016?
Or what are you looking forward to most for 2017?
